Choosing a Bike Bag for Wet Weather

Match the bag to what you carry

Start with the items you need on a typical ride and the space available on the bicycle. Check the bag dimensions and attachment position, then leave room for pedalling, cables and wheel movement.

Check the closure and seams

Read the exact product description for its material, closure and stated water protection. A general waterproof label does not by itself establish an immersion rating or protection in every weather condition. Ask for the applicable rating or instructions if that level of protection matters to your purchase.

Protect sensitive items separately

For phones, documents and spare clothing, use an additional sealed pouch suited to the conditions. Keep openings closed and follow the bag manufacturer's care instructions. Do not assume that an insulated compartment has a particular waterproof rating.
